About This Spot

Walking into El Caporal Restaurant feels like stepping into a cherished corner of Selah where familiar warmth and bustling energy blend effortlessly. The space hums with the easy rhythm of families sharing meals, friends catching up, and voices mingling over the clink of glasses. It’s the kind of spot where the pace invites you to settle in—a casual local eatery that carries a sense of history while staying rooted in community.

The interior's Spanish-inspired touches lend a cozy, welcoming air, though the lighting leans toward the soft and intimate side, encouraging relaxed conversation and shared moments. Whether you’re slipping into one of the booths or gathering around a table, there’s an inviting informality here that sets the tone perfectly for coming together with others.

At El Caporal, the food extends beyond the plate—each dish tastes like a story slowly revealed. The salsas hum with freshness, and tortilla chips arrive perfectly crisp, setting the stage for a meal crafted with heart. From the hearty steak fajitas to the vibrant shrimp dishes, the flavors echo tradition while offering just the right touch of local character. Pairing your meal with a refreshing michelada or a lime margarita feels less like ordering a drink and more like embracing a rhythm of genuine hospitality.

This is a place where meals span generations. Longtime visitors and newcomers alike find comfort in familiar tastes and friendly faces, reflecting a genuine local connection that persists across time. The attentive service moves with gentle efficiency, allowing guests to relax without feeling rushed, even during the liveliest moments.

Whether you’re pausing by after work or carving out space for a weekend gathering, El Caporal invites you to experience Mexican flavors woven into a community fabric—where each visit becomes less about the hustle and more about the warmth of coming home to a shared table.

Food was pretty good but not the best. The waitress was great and we did enjoy our meals. Rice was a bit bland and the enchiladas were on the small side for the price. Chips were great, salsa was good and so we didn't leave hungry! Would probably so by again if we are ever in town.

Literally one of my favorite restaurants in all of Yakima. Food is always excellent, fast service, friendly staff. Been going here since I was a little girl, meeting my dad and having family lunch here now I bring my family and friends here and we don't even live in Selah anymore. We make the drive from West valley, usually about 45 minutes, and its always worth it. Amazing salsa! The staff is the best too, a lot of the same people have been working here for years and always remember us. Definitely recommend! I wish they would start doing lunch again!!

Table for the 5 of us (they have booths for 4 and for 2 as well). Not a busy lunch day for them and we got in quickly. Service was friendly. Large selections on menu. Daily specials. Quick service. All our orders were correct. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Large portions. Clean restrooms. Free angled parking in front. Decorated interior with a Spanish theme. Drawback is the poor lighting.
